Linocut (1934). Printed from four blocks in Raw Sienna; Venetian Red; Permanent Blue, Chinese Blue. Original size: 32.7 x 23.5cm. This wonderful print was originally conceived (though never fully realised as such) as an advertisement. It was commissioned by the London Passenger Transport Board at a time in Britain when Speedway racing had recently arrived, and by 1934, when this print was made, had already become a very popular spectator sport.
