Oil on canvas. Reduced: original size 71.1 x 91.4cm. Ivinghoe Beacon, north Buckinghamshire. It is late Spring, the trees are in leaf, the grass is green and the chalk of the downland reflects light from a milder sky. This is a particularly successful print. Nash often preferred to depict the autumnal English landscape with its muted and more sombre colours. Here, however, he is enthralled by lighter and fuller tones, tones more appropriate for the depiction of this burgeoning Spring-time copse.
