Description:

Watercolour and ink. Illustration from Ardizzone’s classic picture book Tim and Lucy Go To Sea, 1958.

Hello boy!..[says Lucy]. ‘Where are you going and what is your name?’

‘My name is Tim’, answered the boy, ‘I am a sailor, and I have been shipwrecked. I am now looking for another ship’.

So begins the story, after Tim’s rescue from the brave sea captain’s boat, of Tim and Lucy’s adventure aboard the beautiful yacht Evangeline. But not everything goes according to plan: they fall into the clutches of villainous mutineers….

The print depicts Tim and Lucy balanced on the yacht’s railing with Tim waving out to sea.
