Ardizzone, Edward - The Cornet Player (Click to enlarge)
Description
Lithograph – one amongst a series depicting London pubs.*
In this print the cornet player plies his tunes as wares through the glowing doors of the local. And, writes Gorham on this artistry: ‘Unless you are down to the price of your last drink, you feel affluent, and generous towards anybody who has come in, not to indulge himself with a drink, but to beg from those who can’.
