Cyril Power - The Concerto

Linocut (c.1935). Printed from four blocks: Light Yellow; Orange; Light Blue; Dark Blue. Original image size: 32.6 x 30.0cm. In this print it is almost as if Power has transposed musical notes into pictograms – the musicians become the notes, the tiered stage the lines or staves. Perhaps this transposition is not so surprising since Power was a musician himself, and played proficiently both the piano and the violin.
